Offer Description

We offer a postdoctoral researcher position in the laboratory of Polymer Synthesis and Biomaterials (polymersynthesis.cz) , Department of Physical and Macromolecular Chemistry, Charles University in Prague, starting from January 2024 or later, based on mutual agreement. All research costs are fully covered. The salary is highly adequate to cover all living expenses in the Czech Republic.

Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in polymer chemistry, material science or similar; obtained within the last 5 years (2018 or later)
  • Strong background in polymer synthesis and characterization (NMR, SEC, HPLC, light scattering) supported by several publications. Experience in controlled ionic or radical polymerizations is highly beneficial.
  • Fluent in English (both oral and written)

    Synthesis of novel poly(2-oxazoline)s as polymer therapeutics, diagnostics and antimicrobial agents.

    Tasks:

    The assignment includes research in the field of polymer chemistry, particularly the synthesis of novel poly(2-oxazoline)s by cationic ring- opening polymerization of functionalized 2-oxazoline monomers. The synthesized polymers will be tested as anticancer therapeutics, diagnostics and antimicrobial agents. The biological experiments will be performed in collaboration with specialized laboratories in Prague as well as abroad.
