Offer DescriptionA 1.5 year postdoctoral fellowship in computational chemistry will be available from early 2024 at the Department of Engineering of the University of Udine (Italy). The aim of the project, is to conduct fundamental research, by means of computational methods, to characterize the properties and reactivity of photo-activated metal complexes as theragnostic agents and for photodynamic therapy. The postdoctoral researcher will be also involved in other projects developed within the research group. The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in Chemistry or related field with a background in computational chemistry, as well as experience in quantum chemical modeling of organic molecules and/or metal complexes. A previous experience in computational studies of electronic excited states and/or rare earth compounds is highly desirable. Practical knowledge of quantum chemistry codes (Gaussian, ORCA etc.), and Linux environment is necessary. Knowledge of other computational techniques (classical, ab initio molecular dynamics, QM/MM..), as well as scripting (bash, python..) will be considered positively.
The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to have the ability to work both independently and collaboration, to keep track the most recent research progress in the literature related to the project, to draft papers and give presentations. Therefore, good communication skills and excellent knowledge of English are essential.
