Position Summary:

Applicants are invited to apply for an open position as a Post-doctoral Fellow in the Oliveira lab at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of Yeshiva University (Beren campus) located in New York City. Oliveira lab focuses on the molecular understanding of the light emission process by bioluminescent reactions and its use in analytical detection systems, imaging, and diagnostics.

The position will commence in September 2023 and is funded for 12 months. A competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to full benefits.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oliveira lab focuses on the molecular understanding of the light emission process by bioluminescent reactions and its use in analytical detection systems, imaging, and diagnostics.
  • The post-doctoral fellow will be engaged in original research projects involving new marine bioluminescent systems.
  • The primary role of this position is to design and perform experiments employing novel photoproteins and luciferases in bioluminescent-based analytical assays.
  • Experience & Educational Background:

    We are especially interested in candidates who have a strong background in protein chemistry (molecular cloning and chromatography) and in the development of new biochemical assays based on photoproteins and luciferases.

    Skills & Competencies:

    Applicants should be self-motivated and have excellent communication skills in written and spoken English. A background in the field of immunology is a plus.
