Postdoctoral Fellow in the Sociology of Elites

The Department of Social Policy and Intervention is seeking to appoint a
Postdoctoral Fellow in the Sociology of Elites to work on a project, led by Dr
Aaron Reeves, investigating the social origins of elites and how they have
changed over time, as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-method research
You will be responsible for managing your own academic research and
administrative activities, collecting and analysing novel data (either
quantitative or qualitative), and collaborating in writing journal articles
and giving academic presentations. The post holder will also be involved in a
small amount of teaching.
You will have, or be close to completing a PhD/DPhil in a relevant subject
area, with experience of contributing ideas for research projects and grant
applications. You will be someone who thrives in a highly collaborative and
interdisciplinary environment, and you will have a high level of expertise in
the methodological approach that informs your research. Excellent
communication skills are also essential.
The project will involve working with Dr Sam Friedman from the LSE.
The post is fixed-term for 24 months in the first instance with the
possibility of extension.
