POST-DOCTORAL POSITION IN INNER EAR BIOLOGY
We are looking for a motivated and creative post-doctoral fellow to join our group at the Indiana School of Medicine. Our NIH funded lab studies pathophysiology of the inner ear using a novel human stem cell-derived 3D inner ear organoid model in conjunction with genetic mouse models. We study genetically-mediated hair cell and neuronal degeneration in these model systems to determine the cellular and molecular mechanisms that lead to cell death and to establish molecules that can prevent degeneration.
The candidate will conduct full-time research under the supervision of the Primary Investigator. Experimental approaches being used in the lab include CRISPR/Cas9, single cell RNA-seq, mouse inner ear tissue procurement, cell culture with live cell imaging, immunohistochemistry with confocal microscopy, Ca2+ imaging, coimmunoprecipitation, inner ear gene therapy, and proteomics.
As the nation's largest medical school, IUSM is committed to being an institution that not only reflects the diversity of the learners we teach and the patient populations we serve, but also pursues the values of diversity, equity and inclusion that inform academic excellence. We desire candidates who enhance our representational diversity, as well as those whose work contributes to equitable and inclusive learning and working environments for our students, staff, and faculty. IUSM strives to take an anti-racist stance, regularly evaluating and updating its policies, procedures, and practices to confer equitable opportunities for contribution and advancement for all members of our community. We invite individuals who will join us in our mission to advance racial equity to transform health and wellbeing for all throughout the state of Indiana.
