The Department of Economic History and International Relations and the
Stockholm University Institute for Turkish Studies (SUITS) are looking for a
Postdoctoral Researcher in International Relations (IR). The department is a
dynamic and strong education and research department at the Faculty of Social
Sciences at Stockholm University. It aims to be nationally leading and
internationally prominent within its field of research and education, focusing
especially on the three IR sub-fields of International Relations;
International Security, International Institutions, and International
The Stockholm University Institute for Turkish Studies (SUITS) is an
independent research institute established in 2012 with the aim of providing a
more nuanced understanding of Turkish affairs to policy makers, business, and
the general public in Sweden and beyond. The institute provides a dynamic and
welcoming research environment that encourages innovation, comparison, multi-
method and cross-disciplinary approaches.
The position involves independent research on Turkish political economy. The
position may also include administrative tasks at SUITS, up to a maximum of
Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research.
Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent
degree from another country.
The degree should have been completed no more than three years before the time
when the employment decision is made and be in the areas of international
relations, political science, economics or other relevant discipline. An older
degree may be acceptable under special circumstances. Special reasons refer to
sick leave, parental leave, elected positions in trade unions, service in the
total defense, or other similar circumstances as well as clinical attachment
or service/assignments relevant to the subject area.
Special emphasis will be placed on:
- research skills,
- the quality of the research proposal, and
- past publications.
Strong emphasis will be placed on:
- ability to work well in a group,
- proficiency in English and Turkish (in order of importance), and
- experience and documented competence in administration, coordination, and

The position involves full-time employment for a minimum of two years and a
maximum of three years, with the possibility of extension under special
circumstances. Start date as per agreement.
