Project outline:

The project investigates the molecular causes of autoimmune inflammatory diseases, especially ankylosing spondylitis (Morbus Bechterew), which are statistically associated with the occurrence of certain alleles of the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I proteins. We will investigate the molecular properties of these proteins and the effects that they cause in the cells that produce them. Methods include mammalian cell culture, fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, but also isolation, purification, and analysis of proteins.

  • Your responsibilities:
  • Laboratory research in the context of the project in cooperation with another postdoctoral fellow.
  • Independent literature study and resulting creative project management.
  • Help with the preparation of publications and grant applications.
  • Teaching as desired and agreed upon.
  • This is a half-time (50%) position with a flexible working schedule

    Your qualifications:
  • PhD in cell biology, biochemistry, immunology, or similar, completed by the middle of 2021.
  • At least one first-author publication in an international peer-reviewed journal.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
