Description of Work Unit
The CSU Department of Physics maintains a tradition of excellence in research
and teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Department
postdoctoral research associates participate in international research with
programs in many of the most active and exciting areas of physics.
The HEP group at Colorado State University has leading roles on the Fermilab
Short-Baseline Neutrino (SBN) program, and the DUNE (Deep Underground
Neutrino Experiment) and NOvA long-baseline neutrino experiments. Prof.
Wilson was a founding member of DUNE and is Deputy Spokesperson of the ICARUS
collaboration, which has recently completed its first beam data commissioning
run at Fermilab. His research currently focuses on photon detectors for DUNE,
neutrino oscillation measurements, physics beyond the Standard Model with
Liquid Argon detectors.
Prof. Wilson's High-Energy Physics group in the Department of Physics at
Colorado State University seeks applications for a postdoctoral research
associate position in experimental neutrino physics. The position initially
will focus on studies of the use of novel photon detectors in the Horizontal
Drift and Vertical Drift modules for Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment
(DUNE) followed by operation and analysis of data collected by the Fermilab
Short-Baseline Neutrino (SBN) program, with an emphasis on the ICARUS
detector. The successful candidate is expected to be based at Fermi National
Accelerator Center in Batavia, Illinois and will involve travel for
collaboration meetings and conferences. Extended periods at Colorado State
University (Fort Collins) and/or CERN (Switzerland) may be necessary.
