The Norlander laboratory is searching for a highly motivated individual to fill a postdoctoral fellow position within the laboratory. The laboratory of Dr. Allison E. Norlander is based in the Department of Anatomy, Cell Biology, and Physiology at the Indiana University School of Medicine located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Norlander lab investigates the mechanisms through which selected mediators may augment immune cell dysfunction caused by inflammation in models of hypertension or allergic airway inflammation. The selected candidate will utilize mouse models and primary human immune cells to investigate hypotheses and will be able to work independently. The successful candidate will work well in a team setting and will work closely with Dr. Norlander and members of her laboratory.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in immunology, cardiovascular biology, nephrology, or pulmonology. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D. Experience with flow cytometry is desired.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1) Designing and conducting research experiments

2) Mouse colony maintenance and mouse handling

3) Scientific writing – manuscripts and grants

4) Participation in lab meeting

5) Scientific Rigor and Documentation of Research findings and protocols.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate or Terminal degree is required. Must have a Ph.D. or M.D. degree.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities: Excellent organization skills, have the ability to work well with others as well as independently, be reliable, and be able to work safely with good laboratory practices.
