We seek a postdoctoral associate to join the Rutgers School of Social Work Group on Aging Equity and Leadership. The associate will work with faculty, staff, students, and community partners to advance socially relevant research discovery, dissemination, and translation on strengthening communities for aging equity, healthy aging, and aging in community. Examples of current projects include work on age-friendly and dementia-friendly communities, disabilities, social determinants of health, interdisciplinary teams, retirement and economic security, and workforce development. The primary mentors will be Drs. Emily Greenfield and Ayse Akincigil. Other mentors can include Drs. Lauren Snedeker, Karen Zurlo, Patricia Findley, and Althea Pestine-Stevens.

Additionally, the postdoctoral associate will receive various career development opportunities including but not limited to submission of peer- reviewed articles, expertise in multiple data analysis software, and training on dissemination and translation of findings to diverse audiences including scholars, community-based organizations, and other community members located both internationally and domestically.

The position will begin September 1, 2022. We welcome applicants whose life course experiences and social positions will contribute cognitive diversity and interpersonal richness to our collaborations. The duration of the postdoctoral fellowship is for one year; however, renewal is possible and based on performance and available funding. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, interested in forging collaborative relationships with faculty and doctoral students, and have a strong commitment to social justice. The postdoctoral associate will be part of a vibrant cohort of postdoctoral scholars at Rutgers SSW engaged in research that aims to reduce health disparities and ensure racial, social, and economic justice. As part of this cohort, postdoctoral associates will engage in trainings on various topics and have the support of the faculty to begin their own research trajectory.

RUSSW is ranked #17 among MSW programs in the nation and is among the largest and most diverse social work programs in the United States, offering BASW, MSW, DSW, and Ph.D. degrees to over 2,000 diverse students across three campuses in Camden (Philadelphia metropolitan area), Newark (New York metropolitan area), and New Brunswick, the flagship campus. The Rutgers School of Social Work Group on Aging Equity and Leadership is supported through a growing portfolio of external grants from public and private sources, internal grants through Rutgers University, and in-kind support through the Rutgers School of Social Work.

Minimum Education and Experience

Qualifications :

· Ph.D. (or other doctoral degree) in social work, gerontology, public health, health sciences, sociology, or related discipline

· Familiarity with issues of aging equity

· Ability to work independently on a range of research tasks

Preferred qualifications :

· Experience submitting manuscripts for peer-review publication

· Skills in both qualitative and quantitative methods

· Prior involvement in community-partnered research

· Familiarity with conducting health services research (survey and administrative claims)
