Postdoctoral Associate (Position located at BNL)
Required Qualifications (As evidenced by attached resume): Doctoral Degree (foreign equivalent or higher degree) in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, plant biology or closely related field in hand by May 2022.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in protein overexpression and purification using bacterial, yeast, insect, or mammalian cells. Experience in transient gene expression in Nicotiana benthamiana leaves or mammalian cells. Experience in production and purification of protein complexes. Experience in enzyme activity assays. Experience in biological crystallography and diffraction data analysis. Experience in single-particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) sample preparation, data collection and analysis. Experience in antibody development using phage or ribosome display.
Brief Description of Duties: The Postdoctoral Associate will work with Dr. Qun Liu in the Department of Biology at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The incumbent will conduct structural biology research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Brookhaven National Laboratory, as well as those of Stony Brook University. The incumbent should have the ability to communicate effectively and work independently. This Position is in Dr. Qun Liu's laboratory located at Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, New York.
Duties:
Special Notes: The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. Weekend work will be required at times.
