LTH forms the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, with approximately 9 000 students. The research carried out at LTH is of a high international standard and we are continuously developing our teaching methods and adapting our courses to current needs.

Do you want to be part of a research environment committed to address control challenges essential for a future sustainable society? Then these postdoctoral positions are aimed for you! Both mathematically oriented candidates and energy network specialists are needed.

The project, Scalable Control of Interconnected Systems , is funded by an ERC Advanced Grant, a prestigious international grant aimed to give long term support for ground breaking research. The grant covers two postdocs and three PhD students with complementing competences. We expect one postdoc to more mathematically oriented, with competence in computational methods for systems and control, while the other has a strong background in control for energy networks. Also other types of expertise relevant for control of large-scale systems will be valuable.

Work duties The main duty is to conduct research within the ERC project. Another assignment is to contribute to the general scientific discussion at the department. The duties could also include

  • Teaching in the first, second and third cycles of studies
  • Supervision of degree projects and doctoral students
  • Actively seeking external research funding
  • Collaboration with industry and wider society
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above
  • up to no more than 20% of working hours. The position also includes the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning.

    Qualification requirements Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the last date for applications. Special circumstances might in extraordinary cases be applicable.

    Additional requirements:

  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Eligibility This is an qualifying appointment focused primarily on research. The position is intended as an initial step in the academic career and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their scientific merits and potential as researchers. The basis of assessment is the ability to develop and implement research of good quality and teaching ability. Particular emphasis will be given to academic skills within the subject area.

    For appointments to a post-doctoral position, the following shall form the assessment criteria:

  • A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research.
  • Teaching skills.
  • We are looking for a person who is flexible and open, willing to cooperate and contribute to the overall working climate. Other basis of assessment are driving force and independence as well as ability to make new connections, communicate and cooperate with colleagues within and outside academia.

    Conditions The position is a 2 year full time post doctoral position. The position is limited in time based on an agreement between the parties at the labor market (trade unions and employer's organisation).
