Vacancies are available for postdocs in the field of responsive liquid crystal elastomers at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), The Netherlands.
Irène Curie Fellowship
Chemical Engineering and Chemistry
Our research focuses on developing liquid crystal elastomers for soft robotic applications. One of the key applications of liquid crystal elastomers in soft robotics is in the development of flexible, soft actuators. These actuators can be used to drive the movement of robots, enabling them to change their shape and size in response to external stimuli. Additionally, liquid crystal elastomers can be used in the development of soft sensors, which can detect changes in their environment and respond accordingly.
To achieve this, a combination of simulation, modeling, and experimentation to understand the underlying mechanics and behavior of these materials.
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as a Finite Element Modeler with a focus on soft elastic materials, particularly liquid crystal elastomers. The ideal candidate will have expertise in numerical modeling and simulations, as well as a strong understanding of the mechanical behavior of soft elastic materials.
We offer a challenging job for four years in a highly motivated team at a dynamic and ambitious university. You will work with innovative analytic equipment and you will be part of a highly profiled multidisciplinary collaboration where expertise of a variety of disciplines comes together.
The TU/e is located in one of the smartest regions of the world en part of the European technology hotspot ‘Brainport Eindhoven'; well-known because of many high-tech industries and start-ups. A place to be for talented scientists!
