Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL)

Switzerland

February 14, 2022

Description

EPFL, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, is one of the most dynamic university campuses in Europe and ranks among the top 20 universities worldwide. The EPFL employs more than 6,000 people supporting the three main missions of the institutions: education, research and innovation. The EPFL campus offers an exceptional working environment at the heart of a community of more than 16,000 people, including over 12,000 students and 4,000 researchers from more than 120 different countries.

Postdoc position in single-molecule imaging and manipulation of membrane-

less organelles (MLOs)

Your mission : Laboratory of Nanoscale Biology at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow to investigate the behavior of individual molecules and biomolecular phase transition in vitro and in living cells. The successful candidate will work independently to develop and drive forward his/her research project and also collaborate on ongoing projects in the group. You will use single-molecule imaging and advanced computational methods developed by our lab to visualize and quantify the dynamics and biophysical properties of membrane-less organelles (MLOs). Our state-of-the-art imaging platforms (SMLM/SIM/SOFI) are combined with commercial or homemade optical tweezers and scanning probe microscopes. To apply, please send your complete application in a single PDF file, including a cover letter, full CV including publication list and the contact information of 3 referees, to postdocapplication@epfl.ch . Submitted applications will be evaluated immediately, and the search will remain open until the position(s) is filled.

Your profile : We want to recruit postdoc who is familiar with any of the following topics:

Prior backgrounds in optical tweezers, scanning probe microscopy, single- molecule FRET, as well as single molecule imaging in live mammalian cells are highly desired.

Excellent knowledge of optical design, image and computational analysis a

PhD in biophysics, optics or a related discipline

The ability to work effectively in a team and possess good communication skills We are looking for independent, creative and highly motivated postdoctoral scientists interested in exploring biophysical principles governing the function and regulation of cellular phase transitions.

We offer : The EPFL is located in Lausanne - Switzerland, has a highly international environment, state-of-the-art facilities, a track record in the incubation of successful biotechnology companies, and is consistently ranked among the world's top institutions in scientific research. Lausanne is a lively and cosmopolitan urban center located in a unique natural setting with great outdoor activities. Salaries and benefits are internationally competitive.
