The Precision Agricultural Lab (www. pa.wzw.tum.de) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is looking for a postdoc to work on remote sensing in agriculture and vegetation.
Your responsibilities: • Develop methods based on radiative transfer models (RTM), machine /deep learning or hybrid models for mapping plant nitrogen content and related traits using satellite data (e.g., Sentinel-2, EnMAP). • Develop algorithms to produce recommendation/prescription maps for nitrogen fertilization for wheat in Germany. • Model the surplus of nitrogen and potential impacts of nitrogen use. • Publishing results in peer-reviewed journals. • Getting involved in teaching, student supervision and supporting lab members.
Your Profile: • PhD in agriculture, ecology, geoscience, or equivalent, with specialization in remote sensing or having demonstrated publication records in the area. • Expertise in radiative transfer models (e.g., PROSAIL, SCOPE), deep learning algorithms, and image analysis. • Proficiency in coding in R, Python/Matlab, and GEE. • Extensive experience in conducting field experiments (driving license is essential). • Proficient in English writing and speaking, knowledge of German is an advantage. • Passionate about critical questions in sustainable use of resources in agriculture, especially related to the nitrogen cycle.
