The successful candidate will conduct research in social cognition applying mathematical modeling to understand judgments and decisions in the realms of stereotyping and prejudice. The successful candidate will work on and contribute to scientific publications in leading journals of the field. The successful candidate will join a team doing research in various fields, including social cognition, memory, reasoning and thinking, often using mathematical models to leverage conclusions about latent factors underlying behavior in these domains.
The position is financed by a research grant for a social-cognitive project and is limited to the project duration of three years (36 months). The position permits the candidate to further develop her/his scientific career by contributing to the social-cognitive project and by working on the candidate's own research projects. Guidance of undergraduate and (post-) graduate students will contribute to career and skills development. The position does not come with teaching obligations, but teaching courses for students is an option. Knowledge of the German language is not a prerequisite; research and optional teaching can be done in English.
About the Department The Department of Social Psychology and Methods (https: // www. psychologie.uni- freiburg.de/abteilungen/Sozialpsychologie.Methodenlehre/staff?setlanguage=en) offers an open-minded, international working environment with an inspiring bandwidth of research projects, spanning topics in social psychology, experimental psychology, and methods development.
