  • The proposal will be submitted for a postdoctoral fellowship as part of a Eutopia-SIF call opened by EUtopia University. This is an european universities alliance (https: // eutopia-university.eu/), launched by the European Commission in 2019. In this context, the postdoc will last 24 months and 8 months will be offered at the Vrije Universiteit of Brussel. The proposal will be developed in the BioCIS laboratory@CYU in collaboration with 2 other partners providing the necessary skills (modeling, structural analyses, microscopy). Position starting in September 2023.

The proposal concerns the improvement of fusion peptides membranotropic properties. These hydrophobic peptides interact with membranes through multiple interactions requiring concerted conformational changes leading to a-helix, trimerization and pores inside the membranes.

Our hypothesis is that the modifications of native chosen sequences by introducing constrained amino acids would facilitate the structuration. By this way, PFs interactions with membranes could be improved. We will then acquire a better understanding of these emergent peptides' family and their interactions with membranes which could lead us to use them in a vectorization approach.

The project includes the synthesis of building-blocks as well of peptides but also the determination of the membranotropic activity by fluorescence. Structural analyzes and modeling studies are also included and will complete the understanding of the structuring/activity relationships.

    Selection process

Candidates send a CV, a motivation letter and recommendations letters.
