Position: Postdoc Position - Ciliary Wnt Signaling in Mouse

Development

Department: Molecular Embryology

Code number: 2023-0017

The German Cancer Research Center is the largest biomedical research institution in Germany. With more than 3,000 employees, we operate an extensive scientific program in the field of cancer research.

Job description:

The Wnt/β-catenin pathway plays an eminent role in development and cancer. We recently showed that in primary cilia, a β-catenin-independent Wnt/GSK3 signal promotes ciliogenesis (DEV CELL in press; www. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.12.09.519813v1). Deficiency of this ciliary Wnt signaling leads to various tissue malformations in embryos. To analyse systematically the physiological role of this ciliary Wnt signaling also in adults, we are creating mutant mice specifically defective in this pathway, but normal for canonical Wnt signaling. The project involves phenotypic characterisation of these mouse mutants for tissue defects and underlying deficiencies in ciliary function. The postdoc will be embedded in a Wnt-focussed collaborative research center (https: // sfb1324.de).

Requirements:

Applicants should hold a PhD degree in biology / life sciences with a background in mouse biology, including phenotyping of adults and/or embryos. The applicants should be highly self-motivated and be able to pursue research projects independently as well as in collaborations. An excellent written and oral command of English is essential. German language skills are desirable, but not mandatory.

Please send a single PDF file including CV (Germans: copies of Abitur- & Master's degree), a cover letter stating research and career interests, certificates, expected availability date, a list of publications and two letters of reference.

Incomplete applications will not be considered or acknowledged.
