Offer Description

The recruited person will be responsible for assembling one or more genome datasets for one or more groups of species, as well as associated phenotypic data. Then, the recruited person will use the Pelican method to identify the sites and genes associated with the phenotypes, and analyze the results. Finally, the candidate will carry out developments based on neural networks to search for genotype-phenotype associations on a large scale, and will compare the results to Pelican.

The recruited person will carry out bioinformatics activities. These activities include: collection and evaluation of phenotype data, downloading of large genomic datasets, construction of gene families, alignment, alignment cleaning, construction of gene trees, use of Pelican, analysis by site and by gene results, search for confounding factors (GC-biased recombination, recurrent positive selection, etc.), development and training of a neural network (the architecture will be borrowed from existing work).

The recruited person will work at LEHNA (UMR CNRS 5023). The postdoctoral contract is part of the ANR DEELOGENY project aimed at evaluating the relevance of machine learning approaches on a set of four “Work Packages” in phylogenomics, and bringing together teams from 5 laboratories in Paris and Lyon. More precisely, the postdoc will work on Work Package 4 - coordinated by Julien Clavel and Philippe Veber (LBBE), aiming to research genotype- phenotype associations at the phylogenetic scale.
