You will work in the Unit of Structures where we focus on characterizing the
microstructure of materials and how it develops through different types of
phase transformations. We work both experimentally and theoretically. In
particular, thermodynamic and kinetic modelling of materials are important
tools for materials design.
You will focus on developing thermodynamic descriptions relevant to nuclear
energy fuel and its interaction with cladding and coolant. You will use the
CALPHAD methodology, which you are expected to master well. The research takes
place within the SUNRISE center where you work together with other researchers
from KTH, Luleå University of Technology and Uppsala University. You will also
be linked to the international TAF-ID project. You will be responsible for
maintaining continuous contact with both projects and presenting your results
at meetings, workshops and conferences.
