Your mission :
Research Group: The Statistical Data Science group researches data science
with a particular focus on networks, non-Euclidean and multimodal data.
Despite the ubiquity of networks much is still not known about the analysis of
non-Euclidean observations. The group seeks to address this gap, and looks at
applications in Ecology and neuroscience of such methods.
Main duties and responsibilities include :
The Statistical Data Science chair advertises a post in one of two topics:
1) High dimensional point processes. High dimensional data methods have
been developed for non-parametric regression and random Gaussian vectors.
Gradually methods were extended to time series, but understanding is slowly
making its way to point processes. The SDS group has developed early work in
this topic and additional work extends this to fully non-parametric
2) Graph limits for non-parametric network analysis. Graph limits have
become a staple in modelling large networks. Considerable focus has been
expanded in estimating non-parametric representations of the generating
mechanism of a network. More recent work has explored the consequences of
smoothness assumptions or model-misspecification and alternatives to a model-
specification based on Aldous—Hoover theorem.
The candidate should have experience in high dimensional statistics or
probability, and either point processes or graph limits.
Your profile :
We are looking for a recent graduate of with a PhD in Mathematics or a related
area. Candidates should have experience of point processes or graph limits and
must have a strong desire and proven ability to invent, build and publish
their work. A strong publication record either in mathematics or statistical
theory and methodology is key.
