    We are looking for a motivated researcher to join the LIRMM (Le Laboratoire d'Informatique, de Robotique et de Microélectronique de Montpellier) team led by Dr. Ganesh Gowrishankar in an ambitious ANR project. The interdisciplinary project will be conducted at the interface of neuroscience, cell biology, microelectronics and robotics and aims at recording and connecting electrical activity in neural cells to a robot in order to study the neural plasticity and underlying mechanisms in vitro. The successful candidate will work closely with a post-doctoral researcher from the lab of Dr. Raphael Gaudin (IRIM, CNRS Montpellier) who will work in the Biological part of the project, and specifically Stem cell culture, differentiation and culture of neural cells and organoids, human tissue explant culture, electrical activity recording on microelectrode arrays (MEA) (see announcement: UMR9004-RAPGAU-007 (link)). The contract will be for 18 months, and renewable. French is not a prerequisite for the position.

    Le Laboratoire d'Informatique, de Robotique et de Microélectronique de Montpellier - LIRMM -is a mixed research unit of the University of Montpellier and the CNRS. LIRMM's research activities focus on information, communication, and systems science and technology. The candidate will be based at LIRMM, but will have to work closely with biology, medical and electrophysiology labs, also based in Montpellier, that are collaborating in the project.

    Eligibility criteria

    -The candidate must have a doctorate with an educational background in either Neuroscience, signal processing or electrophysiology - Previous experience in one or more topics in hardware interfacing, machine learning and bio-signal processing are a plus - Good written and oral skills in English are required. French is not a prerequisite. -Strong Good publication record
