  • The hired postdoc will have to : - Synthesize porphyrin linkers (with various substituents, metalated and non-metalated) - Prepare and characterize porphyrin-based metal-organic frameworks - Study the photophysical properties of the porphyrins in solution - Study the photocatalytic properties of the porphyrin-based MOFs for CO2 reduction

    In the context of CO2 valorization, the project aims at synthesizing metal- organic frameworks (MOFs) with high photocatalytic activities for CO2 reduction under visible light illumination. We will consider Zr(IV)-porphyrinic MOF-545 as a versatile platform to develop new functionalized photocatalysts. We have recently proposed a mechanism for the photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to formate with this MOF (Y. Benseghir et al. J. Mater. Chem. A, 2022, 18103-18115). We have shown that TEOA radicals generated photochemically at the porphyrin bonds transfer a formal hydride to a CO2 molecule activated on a Zr(IV) center, the latter acting as a Lewis acid. The present project will explore different strategies to enhance the photocatalytic activity of CO2 reduction by playing both with the porphyrin linkers and the photocatalytic conditions. Photophysical studies in solution will complement the photocatalytic experiments, allowing us to scrutinize the mechanism at play.

    The project is funded by the Labex Charmmmat. The research will take place in the Institut Lavoisier de Versailles, MIM group (synthesis and characterization of MOFs) and in ICMMO (Université Paris-Saclay), Chimie inorganique group (synthesis of porphyrinic linkers and photocatalytic and photophysical studies).

    Eligibility criteria

    We are looking for a strongly motivated, enthusiastic, creative, rigorous and with team spirit researcher with the following qualifications, skills and expertise: - Multistep organic synthesis - Synthesis of hybrid organic-inorganic materials - Usual characterization methods of organic molecules (NMR, mass spectroscopy …) and of materials (IR, UV-vis, powder X-ray diffraction, BET …) Experience in photocatalytic experiments and photophysical measurements would be an asset Fluent English (oral/written) is mandatory
