Position Title: Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellowship in the Augustinian Intellectual Tradition, Villanova Department of Humanities Position Type: Faculty Location: Villanova, PA Recruitment Type: Internal/External Applicants Work Schedule: full-time/9-months Department: 157-Humanities/Augustinian Traditions Position Summary:

The Villanova Department of Humanities seeks applicants for a Post-doctoral Teaching Fellowship in the Augustinian Intellectual Tradition, starting in the Fall Semester 2022. This is a one-year fellowship renewable for up to two years, for a total of 3 years. As part of an innovative curriculum, seminars in the interdisciplinary Humanities major guide highly motivated undergraduates through significant questions about human life in a dialogue between the contemporary world and the art, thought, and history of the Augustinian Catholic Intellectual Tradition. Our faculty's areas of expertise range from architecture to literature to economics, and we welcome applications from scholars whose teaching and research likewise explores pressing philosophical and theological questions about their own disciplinary areas. In addition, we invite applications from those who explore the diversity within the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and highlight opportunities for fruitful dialogue with diverse partners outside that tradition.

Villanova is a Catholic university sponsored by the Augustinian order. Diversity and inclusion have been and will continue to be an integral component of Villanova University's mission. The University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and seeks candidates who understand, respect and can contribute to the University's mission and values.

The fellow teaches three courses per semester, including self-designed upper- level, interdisciplinary courses in the Humanities major and courses in the Augustine and Culture Seminar Program (ACS) required of first-year students. Additional teaching opportunities may be available.

The fellow participates in Humanities department meetings and events, with minimal service expectations. Conference travel and research funding is available to the fellow.

Minimum Qualifications:
