Position Summary

Please note that this position can be filled at Post-Doctoral or Senior Post-Doctoral level, depending on qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

Applications are invited for the role of Post-Doctoral Researcher/Senior Post- Doctoral Researcher in the College of Science Engineering and Food Science. The “SOS Earth (Sustainable Organic Synthesis) using Earth Abundant Metals in Critical Pharmaceutical Processes” project is a large, collaborative, €1M Science Foundation Ireland-funded initiative, led by Dr Gerard McGlacken at University College Cork, Ireland.

The second project is a collaboration with a large multinational pharmaceutical company on earth-abundant metal catalysed cross-coupling reactions.

Cork is a vibrant city and a great place to work and live!

Importantly, you will form part of the large SSPC Centre which brings together most of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world (see here for context: McGlacken et al, Industry–Academia Partnership: The Synthesis and Solid-State Pharmaceutical Centre (SSPC) as a Collaborative Approach from Molecule to Medicine, Chem. Eur. J., 2018, 24, 499-503).

There is a real opportunity to spearhead a new project here, develop your own ideas and transition your career to academia or industry. Thus, highly ambitious and self-motivated colleagues are required.

For some key preliminary publications see:
