Post-doctoral Researcher in Molecular Cancer Epidemiology (m/f/d)

full time - JobID: P0066V135

March 1st, 2022 searched for the Department of General, Visceral and Transplantation Surgery at the Heidelberg University Hospital to work in the Research Group Colon Cancer Epidemiology.

The position is limited to 3 months. With the intention to acquire additional grant funding to make it longer term.

Salary: TV-L

Tasks and responsibilities

You will be responsible for the management, monitoring, implementation and analysis of a newly initiated BMBF project on microbiome and colorectal cancer. You will also support all process related to the ColoCare Study.

The specific activities will include but not be limited to:

  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures and trainings across the project consortium for human sample collection, preparation and storage and coordinate sample shipment
  • Apply for funding and contribute to funding applications of the Research Group
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences
  • Foster national and international collaborations
  • Actively participate in the Group and Institute life (e.g. seminar series, group meetings)
  • Prerequisites

  • PhD degree in applied cancer biology, molecular biology, or cell biology with solid experience in state-of-the-art cell and molecular biology techniques and strong skills in molecular epidemiology - prior related experience as project manager/coordinator is a strong asset
  • Knowledge in the design of prospective observational studies and statistical methods and analyses including statistical software (R and SAS) are mandatory
  • Ability to work independently in a multicultural team, inspiring and supporting younger researchers, solid and detail-oriented organizational skills, including multitasking, time management and problem-solving
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills: German and English is required
  • Evidence of published research in peer-reviewed journals and track record of writing grant applications
