Post-Doctoral Researcher In Microbial Environmental Bio-Informatics M/F

Universities and Institutes of France

France

October 2, 2021

Description

  • Organisation/Company: CNRS
  • Research Field: Biological sciences › Biology
  • Researcher Profile: Recognised Researcher (R2)
  • Application Deadline: 02/10/2021 23:59 - Europe/Brussels
  • Location: France › STRASBOURG
  • Type Of Contract: Temporary
  • Job Status: Full-time
  • Hours Per Week: 35
  • Offer Starting Date: 03/01/2022
  • -The successful candidate will be in charge of bio-informatic analysis of “meta-transcriptomic“ data of microbial samples obtained from incubation experiments according to two scenarios that mimic atmospheric conditions (winter night and summer day). Extracted metabolites and mRNAs will be analyzed by metabolomics, fluxomics and transcriptomics in collaboration with project partners. She/he will also participate in analysis of metagenomic datasets from atmospheric samples (cloud water, rain, aerosols or snow), from field campaings in particular at puy de Dôme (France).

The METACLOUD project (https: // drv.uca.fr/ingenieriebr-de-projets/projets- finances/projets-en-c...) aims to improve fundamental knowledge of the cloud ecosystem, chemically and biologically, and more specifically to evaluate the potential role of microbial metabolism in the chemistry of single carbon atom compounds (C1). This will be achieved by obtaining “meta-genomics” and “meta-transcriptomics” data on the metabolic networks of the cloud microbiome and their modulation by contrasting atmospheric scenarios. The resulting dynamic picture of the cloud microbiome, in particular regarding the gene repertoire for potential C1 utilisation pathways, will be integrated in a new model of atmospheric chemistry.

The recruted candidate will join Stéphane Vuilleumier group, AIME (Microbial adaptations and Interactions in the environment, website: https: // aime.unistra.fr) in the host laboratory GMGM (Molecular Genetics, Genomics, Microbiology). It is a CNRS laboratory associated with the University of Strasbourg in France . The AIME team includes 2 teachers of the University of Strasbourg and two CNRS researchers, one technician, and 5 PhD students. The recruted candidate will be implied in the supervision of a PhD student. Research at CNRS and at University of Strasbourg covers all areas of science, and encourages interdisciplinary and international collaborations. Located at the heart of Europe in a trinational region of dynamic economic activity, Strasbourg is a pioneer city in terms of environmental awareness in France, and a very pleasant place to live in.

    Eligibility criteria

-Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of bio-informatic analysis of “omics” datasets of microbial communities - Ability to work in a team, especially in an interdisciplinary context (microbiology, chemistry, physics) - Autonomy (work organization, presentation of results, writing of reports and publications) - Knowledge of microbial metabolism, especially of C1 compounds will be an additional asset.

    Additional comments

Please download a single PDF document including a concise letter of motivation, detailed CV (including previous positions and publication list), and contacts of at least two scientists of reference (letters or recommendation are optional).
