Context

The candidate will be hired within the SITAR project (Impact of Information Structures on Service Pricing), funded by the call for project STaRS of the Hauts-de-France région. The candidate will be integrated within the INOCS team, at Inria Lille-Nord Europe. The offer is defined on a 12 months basis, but can be extended up to 18 months. The candidate will be encouraged to take part in international collaborations with the University of Athens and/or with Polytechnic Montréal.

The goal of this post-doc is to propose new methods and algorithms to price services targeted at end users, in context of competition where the information available might be limited due to privacy constraints imposed by the end users, or strategic.

Assignment

The assignment can be decomposed as follows:

  • literature review
  • formulation of the service pricing problem under competion as a decision- dependent game that explicitly integrate the data dependence in the end users' decision variables
  • reformulation and analysis of the stochastic game
  • proposition of distributed algorithms enabling (exact or approximate) equilibrium computation
  • analysis of the performance and of the trade-off between equilibrium computation accuracy (algorithmic criterion), efficiency of the equilibrium (economic criterion), and end users' privacy preservation. Other criteria could be propose
  • implementation and test on real data, visualisation of the results
  • Main activities
  • Modeling and solving of a stochastic non-cooperative game
  • Proposition of distributed algorithms for equilibrium computation
  • Implementation in python language and test on real data
  • Communication of the results (conferences, workshops)
  • Writing scientific articles
  • Skills

    The candidate should have a solid background in mathematical optimisation (continuous, stochastic). Some knowledge in game theory and/or statistical learning would be an asset.

    The candidate should have experience with the python language.

    Being fluent in English is mandatory. Speaking French is not required.
