  • A call for applications is now open for the attribution of 1 (one) Post- Doctoral Research Fellowship (BIPD) under the programmatic component of the Pluriannual Funding to Psychology Research Centre (CIPsi), School of Psychology, University of Minho (UIDP/01662/2020), supported by FCT/MCTES through national funds (PIDDAC) to develop science communication and dissemination activities.

    Admissibility Requirements:

  • Proven experience of at least one (1) year in science communication and dissemination activities;
  • PhD in Psychology, Communication Sciences or related areas and:
  • Holders of a PhD degree obtained in the three years prior to the date of submission of the fellowship application;
  • Have carried out the research work that led to the attribution of a PhD degree in an entity other than the host unit Psychology Research Centre – CIPsi;
  • Do not exceed, with the conclusion of the contract in question, including possible renewals, a cumulative period of three years in this type of fellowship, consecutive or interpolated
  • Candidates who do not cumulatively meet the requirements described will be excluded.

    Different R&D Units are included, even if located in the same Organic Unit (UOEI) of UMinho (no. 4 and 5 of article 7 of the FCT I.P Research Grant Regulation, in force).

    Applicants eligibility:

  • Science communication and dissemination activities;
  • Design and management of digital platforms and content;
  • Social media management;
  • Development of strategies for new audiences;
  • Creation of interactive multimedia resources.
  • Applicable legislation and regulations:

    Research Fellowship Holder Statutes, approved by Law no. 40/2004 of August 18, in its current version published by Decree-Law no. 123/2019 of august 28; Regulation of Scientific Research Fellowships of the University of Minho (RBIC), in force (https: // www. fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/regulamento.phtml.pt).

    Host institution and scientific supervision: The work plan will be carried out at the Psychology Research Centre (Csi), School of Psychology, University of Minho, Campus de Gualtar, Braga, under the scientific supervision of Professor Bárbara Figueiredo.

    Fellowship duration: The grant will take place for a period of 12 (twelve) months, with a provisional starting date on january 2022. The fellowship grant may eventually be renewed according to the applicable legislation and/or availability of funds.

    Amount of the research grant: The monthly maintenance allowance corresponds to the basic value of 1646,00€, according to the table of fellowships of FCT, I.P. in the country (Table of monthly maintenance allowances for the FCT I.P. Research Fellowship Regulation): https:// www. fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores.

    Other benefits: Reimbursement of the Voluntary Social Insurance, corresponding to the 1st tier of the contribution base (for fellowships of 6 months or more) and Personal Accident Insurance.

    Grants are paid by bank transfer to the account identified by the fellowship holder.

    Exclusivity regime: The grantee will perform the activities under exclusivity, as foreseen in article 5º of the Research Fellow Statutes and applicable regulations in force.

    If an effective member of the Jury, including the President, is unavailable, he/she shall be replaced by the first effective member. The first substitute member will replace the effective member.

    The Jury, including the President, undertake the commitment to respect a set of responsibilities essential to the evaluation process, such as the duties of impartiality, of stating any potential situations of conflict of interest and confidentiality.

    Evaluation criteria:

    1. Merit of the Applicant (MC). First, the evaluation of the applications will focus on the Merit of the Applicant (60%) by applying the following criteria on a scale of 1 (insufficient) to 5 (excellent):

    A1 – Academic and scientific curriculum (30%);

    A2 – Professional curriculum (50%);

    A3 – Motivation Letter and Plan for Science Dissemination and Communication (20%);

    The final classification of the MC will be obtained by the following formula:

    MC=(A10,30)+(A20,50)+(A30,20)

    2. Interview (ENT). The three candidates with the best evaluation in the MC or, being in ex-aqueo, the four candidates will be interviewed. The interview will be conducted in Portuguese and/or English, applying the following criteria on a scale of 1 (insufficient) to 5 (excellent) to assess:

    B1 - Attitude and critical sense (10%)

    B2 - Motivation (30%)

    B3 - Quality of presentation and justification of the science dissemination and communication plan (30%)

    B4 - Quality of presentation and justification of a dissemination task required by the jury (30%)

    The classification of the ENT will be obtained by the following formula:

    ENT=(B10,10)+(B20,30)+(B330)+(B40,30)

    The Final Classification (CF) of candidates will be obtained by the following formula:

    CF=(MC0,6)+(ENT0,4)

    The position may only be awarded to candidates whose final grade is 3,5 or higher, considering the weighted average between MC (60%) and ENT (40%).

  • Curriculum vitae of the candidate, in Portuguese or in English;
  • Certificates of the academic degree(s) required, specifying the final grading (mandatory) and, if possible, the grades obtained in all the attended curricular units, or, alternatively, the candidate's declaration of honor that the degree was obtained until the end of the term of application;
  • Certificate of recognition of the academic degree awarded by a foreign higher education institution(s) and the conversion of the respective final grading into the Portuguese grading scale, or, alternatively, the candidate's declaration of honor that the recognition of the foreign degree was obtained until the end of the application period;
  • Motivation Letter, in English and Portuguese, including the plan for science dissemination and communication that the candidate proposes for CIPsi.
  • Regarding the mandatory documents, the following should be noted:

    • In the case of a degree granted by a foreign higher education institution, and in order to ensure the application of the principle of equal treatment to candidates holding foreign and national academic degrees, it is mandatory to recognize the degree and convert the respective final grading to the Portuguese grading scale;

    • The recognition of foreign academic degrees and diplomas, as well as the conversion of the final grading into the Portuguese grading scale, can be requested at any public higher education institution, or at the Directorate- General for Higher Education (DGES, only in the case of automatic recognition). Regarding this matter, it is mandatory to consult the DGES portal at the following address: https:// www. dges.gov.pt;

    • Applicants with diplomas issued by foreign higher education institutions can submit an application and will be evaluated with the same criteria as candidates with diplomas issued by Portuguese institutions, if they present, in their application, proof of recognition of academic degrees and conversion of the final grading into the Portuguese grading scale under the applicable legislation;

    • Applicants with foreign diplomas with quantitative classifications who do not present proof of conversion of the final grading into the Portuguese grading scale will be evaluated with the minimum classification (1 point) in the respective criterion;

    • In any case, the fellowships contracts with candidates with diplomas issued by foreign institutions will only be signed upon presentation of proof of recognition of academic degrees, as indicated above;

    • Only candidates who have completed the required qualification by the end of the application period will be admitted. If they do not yet have the official degree certificate, a declaration of honor from the candidate stating that he/she has completed the qualifications required by the end of the application period, will be accepted. At the time of the respective hiring the candidate must present the official degree certificate.

    Communication of results:

    The evaluation results will be sent to the candidates, by e-mail, within 90 working days after the deadline for submission of applications.

    If the result is not in favor of the applicant, he/she has a period of 10 working days to comment the results, if he/she wishes it so, in the context of a prior hearing with the interested parties, under the terms of article 121 and 122 of the Administrative Procedure Code (DL nº 4 / 2015 of January 7).

    Complaints and appeals procedures: The final results of the evaluation will be sent by e-mail to all applicants.

    The selected applicant must indicate, in writing, the intention to accept the fellowship.

    The second-best qualified applicant will be placed in a reserve list which is valid for a period of three month, starting from the date of communication of the final results. Should the first selected candidate refuse the fellowship, this will be awarded to the second-best qualified candidate.

    The final decision can be contested, having 15 working days for this purpose, by sending to the President of the jury the corresponding claim. Interested parties may also submit an optional hierarchical appeal, addressed to Pro- Rector for Research and Projects, Professor Doctor Filipe Vaz.

    Requirements for final awarding of the fellowship:

    Research fellowship contracts are signed with the University of Minho.At the time of hiring, the following documents must be sent:

    a) Copy of the certificates of the academic degrees;

    b) Presentation of the certificate of recognition of foreign academic degrees and conversion of the respective final grading into the Portuguese grading scale, if applicable;

    c) Declaration of the supervisor(s) assuming responsibility for supervising the work plan, pursuant to article 5-A of the Research Fellowship Statute (template for the statement to be made available by UMinho);

    d) Document attesting the candidate's acceptance by the institution where the research activities will take place, guaranteeing the necessary conditions for its proper development, as well as compliance with the duties provided for in article 13 of the Research Fellowship Statute (template for the statement to be made available by UMinho);

    e) Science ID;

    f) Declaration of commitment to the regime of exclusive dedication (in accordance with Article 5 of the Research Fellow Statute).

    The documents to complete the fellowship contracting process, must be deliver within 6 months from the date of communication of the conditional decision to award the fellowship, implies the caducity and closure of the process.

    Terms and conditions for fellowship renewal (if applicable):

    Fellowship may be renewed for additional periods, if this information is provided in the application opening notice and in the contract. This additional period may not exceed the regulatory limits or the end of the project or availability of funds.

    The renewal of the fellowship always depends on a petition submitted by the fellowship holder, on a date prior to the end of the fellowship contract, accompanied by the following documents:

    a) report issued by the supervisor(s) and by the host entity(ies) on the follow-up of the fellowship holder's work and the evaluation of his/her activities;

    b) updated document proving compliance with the exclusive dedication regime.
