Manuscript preparation: The postdoctoral associate will develop and prepare manuscripts and presentations to disseminate study findings.

Data Analysis: The postdoctoral associate will organize data files, conduct quality assurance checks, prepare data for analysis, and conduct analyses using a variety of statistical approaches (e.g., structural equation modeling, multilevel modeling).

The postdoctoral associate will work in the laboratory of Dr. Justin Lavner in the Department of Psychology at the University of Georgia (UGA). The lab conducts research on couple and family relationships, contextual stress, health disparities, and family-focused interventions for underserved and marginalized populations. We have strong connections with the Center for Family Research and are developmentally-informed and prevention-oriented.

This research-focused position will focus on issues related to the health and well-being of Black families throughout the lifespan. The position provides unique opportunities for collaborative interactions with a number of researchers, access to existing longitudinal datasets, and professional development to prepare for the academic job market. The primary focus of the position will be analyzing and publishing data from a recently completed intervention study of first-time Black mothers and their newborn infants over the first 4 months postpartum (Sleep SAAF). A secondary focus will be analyzing and publishing data from an ongoing study of middle-aged Black couples (ProSAAF). Other research opportunities, including grant writing and the development of pilot projects, may also be available based on mutual interests. Ideal candidates should have expertise in couple/family relationships, Black families, perinatal health, and/or health disparities; strong working knowledge of advanced statistical methods such as structural equation modeling and multilevel modeling; excellent writing skills; and experience publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

Ph.D. in Psychology, Human Development and Family Sciences, or a related field.
