Offer Description

The Vision team of the INM is dedicated to the study of inherited retinal diseases (IRDs). The team is tightly linked to the National Reference Centre for Inherited Sensory Disorders and the Reference Medical Biology Laboratory for Neurosensorial Disorders of the Montpellier University Hospital. Our research is aimed at establishing genotype-phenotype correlations, resolving diagnostic impasses, elucidating pathophysiological processes and developing innovative therapies for IRDs. Using human disease-specific iPSC-derived retinal organoid models, the project aims to elucidate how different mutations within the same IRD gene can give rise to distinct retinal phenotypes and to the association of non-retinal symptoms (such as hearing loss). Moreover, using the same models, the project will evaluate the efficacy of CRISPR/Cas- mediated genome editing of specific mutations for phenotype reversal. Recent relevant publications from our team are PMID: 31909088; 36114559; 37654703; 37768732
