  • Endometriosis is a chronic disease in which lesions resembling endometrial tissue are found outside the uterus, mainly in the abdominopelvic cavity. It may affect 10% of women of childbearing age. Its pathophysiology and epidemiology remain poorly understood, as is its heterogeneity (histological, cellular, genetic, epigenetic, intra- and/or inter-lesion). Many factors are under investigation including genetic and epigenetic ones, inflammation, and the role of stem cells. Endometriosis results in a variety of symptoms including pain, infertility, alteration in quality of life. The diagnosis and research on epidemiology are hampered by a lack of relevant models and biomarkers.

A one-year post-doctoral position (extendable to one more year) is available and is funded by the URGO Foundation.

The candidate must hold a PhD and provide a research project identifying the host laboratory.

The host laboratory must be an Inserm unit. Importantly, the host lab will benefit from up to 10k€ funding/year for the duration of the project.

Any project relevant to endometriosis is acceptable. Candidates without prior background on this topic are welcome to apply. The same applies to the host lab. As non-exclusive examples, projects coming from the fields of neurosciences (mechanisms of pain), cancer (cellular heterogeneity) or genetics are welcome1provided that they aim at advancing the knowledge of endometriosis mechanisms and/or treatment.

The project must be essentially feasible within 2 years.

Applications must be written in English, using the provided template (to be downloaded here together with all documents).

    Additional documents to provide:

  • At least 2 reference letters for the applicant
  • An application letter from the applicant
