Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) is a premier
mission-driven university dedicated to transforming the lives of underserved
and under-resourced communities through health professions education,
biomedical and public health research, and compassionate care. Through a
collaborative venture with the Urban Health Institute (UHI), CDU is
recruiting Post-Doctoral Fellows to enhance our CDU Advantage Health Policy
program area. Post -Doctoral Fellows will have a one year appointment with
option for second year, pending successful completion of first year and review
by supervising principal investigator and UHI director.
Under the supervision of a Principal Investigator, the Post-Doctoral Fellow
will be recruited to conduct mentored health services research, health
outcomes research, or policy research related to racial and ethnic health
disparities. Such research may include conducting community-based
participatory research, social sciences research, and policy impact
Duties assigned to this position will require an in-depth knowledge of a
specialized field, process, or discipline and may involve organizing and
implementing complex research plans, the development of methods of
research, testing and data collection, analysis and evaluation, and
writing reports (weekly reports and progress reports) containing
descriptive, analytical and evaluative content.
The duties will require the exercise of independent discretion and
judgment in carrying out research activities within the predetermined
research scope and methodology.
Responsible for conducting analyses and submission of findings for peer
Provide at least two CDU academic lectures per academic year that receive
student and peer evaluation as assigned to meet department/college
Provide formal mentorship support to students and trainees
Enhance opportunities for students and trainees to participate in research
Develop peer reviewed grant and proposal writing experience and expertise
Work effectively with a diverse community
Course teaching opportunities available if desired
Ph.D., DrPH, M.D., or DNP in a clinical, biomedical or social science
Demonstrated potential for academic career through research in related
field, including scientific publications and/or presentations.
Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.
Evidence of community engagement and service.
Capacity for generation and analysis of data (quantitative or
qualitative) for health policy analyses, health services research, and
health related social science studies.
Demonstrated capacity for development of peer reviewed content for
dissemination of research findings
Oral presentation and didactic teaching and/or presentation skills
