A postdoctoral fellow position in mosquito-borne disease epidemiology is available in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics within the School of Public Health at Indiana University – Bloomington.

Working under the direct supervision and mentorship of Dr. Marco Ajelli , the focus of the position is to investigate the ecology of mosquito populations vectoring arboviruses and, more broadly, on the epidemiology of mosquito-borne diseases. The postdoctoral fellow will be hired for a one- year position with opportunity for renewal on a yearly basis assuming satisfactory performance. The position includes benefits and compensation is congruent with NIH stipend levels. Applications received by October 1, 2021 will received best consideration. The appointment start date is negotiable on a case-by-case basis and could begin as early as November 1, 2021.

Responsibilities: The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to the analysis of invasive mosquito species vectoring arboviruses. The hired postdoctoral fellow is expected to contribute to several collaborative projects involving national and international partners with a primary role in (at least) one of them. Topics of interest will cover the analysis of socioecological determinates of the abundance of mosquito populations at the global and local scale, the analysis of the transmission potential of a set of mosquito-borne diseases (e.g., Zika, dengue, chikungunya) in different areas and seasons, and the development of models of transmission of mosquito-borne diseases.

About us: Dr. Ajelli is heading the Laboratory for Computational Epidemiology and Public Health at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Indiana University School of Public Health – Bloomington (https: // publichealth.indiana.edu/research/faculty- directory/profile.html?user=majelli). The lab conducts cutting-edge research in infectious disease epidemiology and has a strong interdisciplinary core with expertise in infectious disease modeling and epidemiology. The research conducted within the lab aims to provide a quantitative framework for understanding the key determinants and population processes shaping the epidemiology of infectious diseases to address public health questions.

Located on the flagship campus of the Indiana University System, IU School of Public Health‐Bloomington has over 200 faculty in five departments. Basic Qualifications

Applications are invited from any relevant discipline including Epidemiology, Mathematics, Physics, or other related quantitative fields. Candidates must have received a doctoral degree from an accredited educational institution by the start of appointment. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of the ecology of mosquito populations and the epidemiology of mosquito-borne diseases. Candidates with teamwork attitude and previous interdisciplinary research experience are particularly welcomed.
