  • Develop working hypotheses, conduct experiments and analyze data to conduct the project. Establish and analyze the behavioral repertoires of five ASD mouse models and control animals. Compare these repertoires with those obtained in our previous studies using standardized tests. Determine if the behavioral classifier of the tracking system can detect behavioral and phenotypic differences in particular behavioral sequences. Analyze data with appropriate mathematical/statistical tools. Write scientific papers.

    To use an automated behavioral tracking system to analyze, compare and model the behaviors of different mouse models of autism spectrum disorders, caused by genetic mutations or excessive gestational weight gain or a combination of both.

    IBDM is located on the Luminy Campus and comprises about 240 permanent researchers, professors, engineers and technicians and non-permanent staff (CDD, post-docs, PhD students, trainees) working in 21 research teams and 11 technical platforms and services. IBDM is a joint research unit under the supervision of the CNRS and AMU, which explores the field of developmental biology and associated pathologies. The activity will be carried out within the team "Transcriptional regulatory networks in development and diseases" directed by Laurent Fasano in collaboration with the teams of Françoise Muscatelli (INMED, Marseille) and Séverine Dubuisson (LIS, Marseille) As the team is composed of several nationalities, the practice of English language is essential.

    Eligibility criteria

    Have a background in neuroscience and behavior and knowledge of computational neuroscience is desired Have good mouse handling skills and possibly video tracking skills. Basic knowledge of artificial intelligence (machine & deep learning) and Python language. Good communication skills in English (oral and written) and scientific writing. Ability to work in a team.
