Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The small fruit pathology lab at University of Maryland College Park is seeking a Post-doctoral Associate to conduct applied/basic research to study filamentous fungi causing fruit rots, such as Botrytis and Colletotrichum species.

Conducting various lab experiments, with an emphasis on fungicide resistance.

Leading field trials to validate disease models and/or evaluate different spray programs.

Managing/analyzing data and writing research manuscripts.

Assisting in the preparation and writing of proposals, and project reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Plant Pathology or related field.

Experiences in working with plant fungal pathogens.

Proficiency in DNA/RNA extraction, PCRs, and sequence analysis.

Ability to support data collection and project implementation in the field.

Ability to drive pick-up truck and travel to conferences and project sites, as needed.

Excellent writing skills, analytical skills, and presentation skills.

Fluency in written and spoken English.

Strong motivation and initiative, along with excellent interpersonal skills.

Preferences:

Previous experience with working fruit pathosystems and fungicide resistance and its molecular basis.
