REPIN, Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen,
has an open post doc position available from November 1st, 2021, or soon
thereafter. The position is part of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Challenge
Center REPIN- rethinking protein interactions. REPIN connects research
groups in Copenhagen and Zürich to study interactions of Intrinsically
Disordered Proteins (IDPs) using a suite of biophysical methods and
ranging from the single atom and molecule, over ensembles to organisms.
A post doc position (2 years with the possibility of extension) will be
available to study how context influences the interactions of IDPs driven by
short liner motifs ( SLIMs ). Focus will be on how context in terms of
chain properties (length, compaction and dynamics), when tethered to folded
domains and when engaging in higher order complexes incl. liquid-liquid phase
separation processes impact affinity, kinetics and thermodynamics in SLiM-
based binding. Two systems are selected for the studies playing key roles in
DNA replication and transcription with relevance to human diseases and plant
quality, and the candidate will be responsible for deciding on a third,
relevant model system.
The postdoctoral fellow will work in the groups of Birthe B. Kragelund and
Karen Skriver located in the Department of Biology in central Copenhagen. In
addition to being founding laboratories of REPIN, the groups are members of
the interdisciplinary and collaborative research environment at the
Linderstrøm-Lang Centre for Protein Science. The postdoctoral fellow will work
together with scientists from a number of disciplines, and engage in
collaboration with other partner laboratories within REPIN. The groups are

chemistry, biophysics, biochemistry or similar fields, and with previous
publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and prior research
experience within or with
Integrative structural biology
Protein folding and interactions
Biophysical studies of IDPs
Biophysical techniques as ITC, stopped-flow, CD, protein NMR spectroscopy
or small angle X-ray scattering
It will be advantageous to also have experience with one or both of the
Liquid-liquid phase separation
The postdoc's duties will include research within IDPs as well as teaching and
supervision. The post may also include other duties.
