  • Job description:

    1) persons, who meet the requirements specified in the Act of 20 July 2018 on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2022, item 574, as amended) and the Statute of the Silesian University of Technology of 3 June, 2019 (Legal Monitor of SUT of 2020, item 339) may enter the competition for the position ) may enter the competition for the position of an university assistant,

    2) estimated work commencement date: 01.10.2022,

    3) workplace and type of contract: Department of Thermal Technology, Contract of Employment (part- time)

    4) period of employment: from 01.10.2022 to 30.09.2023, total 12 months

    5) implementation of tasks under the NCRD “Development and demonstration of a computer system for controlling operation and managing the availability and reliability of industrial infrastructure based on artificial intelligence algorithms” (OPTIAIUNIT)

    Tasks (description of tasks in points):

    1) Calibration of the CFD model and the reduced model for the generator under demonstration conditions based on real data

    2) Substantive support in the field of validation of reduced models based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms for critical devices.

    3) Verification of the repository's operation: quality of the parameters restored, speed of operation, etc. in demonstration conditions

    4) Verification of the implemented approximation algorithms for searching the repository of results developed on the basis of reduced POD-RBF models or artificial intelligence algorithms.

    Eligibility criteria

    Required documents:

    1) Application of a candidate with short information about the employment

    2) Copy of the PhD degree diploma, copy of the engineer and master's degree diploma or a copy of the protocol of the engineering and master's examination in mechanics and mechanical engineering or energy or environmental engineering or equivalent.

    Selection process

    The application must be submitted:

  • ENGLISH: Excellent



    1) PhD degree in the discipline of Environmental Engineering, Mining and Power Engineering

    2) Ability to numerically model coupled processes using computer fluid dynamics (CFD) methods, confirmed by publications or participation in research projects

    3) Ability to use reduced models based on approximation techniques, e.g. POD- RBF confirmed by participation in research projects

    4) Ability to write user's own functions for the Ansys Fluent program

    5) The ability to think analytically and independently formulate conclusions.

    6) Ability to write and edit scientific texts.

    7) High motivation for further development and the ability to work in a group.

    Specific Requirements

    Additional requirements:

    1) Knowledge of an English at lever C1 confirmed by an certificate or publications.

    2) Knowledge of C, Fortran and Python programming languages.

    3) Predispositions to work in a research team.

    4) Knowledge of Ansys FLUENT software.
