Syracuse University, a research-intensive (R1) institution, is pleased to announce a position for a Postdoctoral Discipline-based Education Researcher (DBER) in Biology and/or Chemistry. This position will support the implementation of the Syracuse University Inclusive Excellence CHANcE Project funded by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI). Qualifications: training and content knowledge in Biology and/or Chemistry and hold a Ph.D. in Science/STEM Education or a related field focused on undergraduate teaching and learning; or hold a Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field with significant training and experience in education research as well as course design and implementation of active-learning at the undergraduate level. The DBER Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to teaching and professional development of Biology and Chemistry faculty toward implementation of High Impact Practices (HIPs) including active learning pedagogies, inclusive practices and course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs). In addition, the DBER Postdoctoral Fellow will work closely with various partners in the University and other stakeholders to identify critical issues and develop evidence-based recommendations for potential interventions. The portfolio of activities will focus on efforts to develop an inclusive environment in the Biology and Chemistry Departments for underrepresented minority and first-generation students. The DBER postdoctoral Fellow will hold an appointment in either the Biology and/or Chemistry Departments or the Department of Science Teaching.

Qualifications
