  • This work is mostly based on model Hamiltonians for interacting electrons on a lattice (long-range Coulomb interactions, mean-field and many-body methods). It may be complemented with first principles studies of lattice dynamics associated with molecular vibrations and electronic interactions, within the framework of a multiscale modeling strategy. The proposed research is highly interdisciplinary (physics, materials science, chemistry), interaction with experimental collaborators is foreseen.

    The postdoc position fits within the framework of the ongoing research on charge transport phenomena in organic semiconductors (e.g. molecules, polymers), specifically dealing with the theoretical and numerical description of disorder-limited transport, also at high doping. The candidate will consolidate and improve our techniques based on the transient localization theory and extend them to thermoelectric properties (Seebeck coefficient).

    The postdoc will work at Institut Néel, a CNRS unit (UPR2940) under agreement with the University Grenoble Alpes. It is one of the largest French national research institutes for fundamental research in condensed matter physics enriched by interdisciplinary activities at the interfaces with chemistry, engineering and biology. It is located in the heart of a unique scientific, industrial and cultural environment, right next to the French Alps.

    This post-doc will be carried out at the Intitut Neel (CNRS, Grenoble), a leading French laboratory of fundamental research in condensed matter physics. The PhD student will be integrated in the Condensed Matter Theory group (26 members, including permanent and non-permanent staff) of the Condensed Matter – Low Temperatures (MCBT) department, under the supervision of Gabriele D'Avino.

    Eligibility criteria

    The candidate must hold a PhD in physics, chemistry or materials science and have a solid background in theory of condensed matter physics and/or chemical physics. Strong independence, motivations and communication skills in English are necessary. Experience with scientific coding and high-performance computing are required.
