At the KU Leuven Group of Humanities and Social Sciences, at the Arts Faculty, there is a vacancy for a full time-member of the academic staff in the field of transnational and plurilingual literatures with a focus on migrant writing. We are looking for internationally oriented candidates with an excellent research track record in this field. Candidates have recently acquired an ERC Starting Grant and will execute their research in the Translation Studies Research Unit at KU Leuven. They are prepared to provide education within the scope of their research domains. The application file for this vacancy consists of the successful ERC Grant application.
Duties ResearchThe candidate will execute interdisciplinary and international research at the highest level in the field of transnational and plurilingual literatures with a focus on migrant texts. The main focus of research is on collaborative forms of writing. The candidate is prepared to supervise PhD research and will contribute to the Research Unit's profile in transnationalism and plurilingualism.
EducationThe candidate will teach a specialized course in the ‘Master of Western Literature' on plurilingual literature and translation that is in line with her/his research from the beginning of the mandate and is also prepared to supervise master theses. Additional teaching and/or guest lectures in different courses (e.g. the Master of European Studies) during this first period is optional. From year 6 onward the candidate will take up further courses in a faculty-wide scope including the Master of European Studies and in consultation with the Translation Studies Research Unit (on BA and MA level up to the level of 16 credits). After 10 years the candidate is expected to take up the regular duties of a full staff member within the Translation Studies Research Unit, the Arts Faculty and KU Leuven.

ProfileYou hold a PhD in Literary Studies or Translation Studies for at least five years at the start of this position. You are an internationally acknowledged researcher and you possess excellent qualifications in the field of this vacancy. You can demonstrate this by means of leading international publications and proven international research experience. You have the didactic skills to provide excellent teaching at the university.
The official administrative language used at KU Leuven is Dutch. If you do not speak Dutch (or do not speak it well) at the start of employment, KU Leuven will provide language training to enable you after three years to take part in meetings and to teach courses in Dutch.
This position is open to ERC grant holders. As for all academic staff vacancies, your application will be subject to the advice of the nomination committee of the faculty. The final decision regarding your application will be taken by the Special Academic Council.

You will be appointed to the position of tenure track assistant professor for a period of 5 years; afterwards, subject to a positive evaluation, you will be appointed to the tenured position of associate professor.
