The incumbent in this position performs various commissioned law enforcement duties for the buildings, parking lots and surrounding areas of the LSUHSC at New Orleans campus. The incumbent also assumes the responsibility of the highest supervisory officer during his/her tour of duty when no higher supervisory officer is on duty.
To provide a full range of police services by enforcing state, federal, and local laws and campus regulations through active foot patrols and mobile patrols.
Additional Position Information
LSU Health New Orleans University Police is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Police Officer 1A or 2A. There are multiple vacancies for this position.
Pay rate is dependent upon applicants' qualifications. Starting rate of pay is 17.50 for a PO 1A and 18.80 for a PO 2A. There is also an additional $2 Premium Pay and $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only plus an additional $2.50 Shift Differential pay.
These positions are in a CPG. As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a (Police Officer 1-A or 2-A) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). In this position you are required to complete a 13 week Police Officer's Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) academy held in Baton Rouge or Slidell to attain POST Certification. This academy requires the passing of physical fitness training (running, sit-ups, push-ups. etc) firearms training and defensive tactics training in addition to other training.
