About the role:

As Placements Officer, you will form an integral part of the School of Management's Placements Team, supporting one or more discipline(s) as required. These programmes include a year spent on placement within a company during their third year. The post involves the organisation of the placement year for students in full-time work

You will ensure that services are efficient, effective and adapt to changing circumstances. Reporting to the School's Placements Manager, yourself and the wider team will work together under the guidance of the Head of Placements, Projects and International Studies. You will also work closely with other Undergraduate Placements Officers, Placements Administrators, plus the Director of Studies who will guide on academic issues.

The role involves:

  • Account-managing companies
  • Developing placement opportunities
  • Managing students and employer recruitment processes
  • Preparing students
  • Designing and delivering a professional development programme
  • Developing common systems and standardised processes on best practice
  • Ensuring that relevant country legislation, university regulations and procedures are adhered to

    About you:

    This is a busy and varied role involving daily communication with academic and professional services staff, students, and current/potential employers. You will need to have excellent organisational skills, demonstrate a good use of initiative, and have the ability to multi-task and prioritise. Diplomacy, tact and cultural awareness are key to developing strong links that will provide placements in the UK and around the world.
