Job Description

Boston Medical Center (BMC) and the Section of Infectious Diseases seeks a talented Physician Assistant (PA) as part of its continuing efforts to optimize the ability to respond to emerging infectious disease emergencies and reduce the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed vulnerabilities throughout healthcare to quickly and comprehensively address new infectious diseases while maintaining exceptional care without exception by reducing HAIs. The PA will work within ID and the Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control (HEIC) unit. The PA will be actively involved in education and training of providers, surveillance, and implementation of quality improvement activities focused on reducing HAIs within the BMC hospital and healthcare system. During infectious diseases emergencies, the PA will lead formulation of policies and processes to assist in the inpatient, ambulatory and emergency department settings. The PA will work with other partners and stakeholders to disseminate infection prevention information; implement systems to provide appropriate testing, treatment and prevention strategies; monitor public health updates, requirements and regulations; and perform other necessary administrative duties.

The ID Section has expertise treating infections in patients with a wide range of comorbidities and immunocompromising conditions and has particular clinical strengths in infection control and antimicrobial stewardship; HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C and infections in patients with opioid-use disorders; tuberculosis; and travel- and migration-related diseases, in particular, Chagas disease.
