    Role Description

The University of York's Office of Philanthropic Partnerships and Alumni (OPPA) is looking for a highly motivated and people-orientated fundraiser to join our enthusiastic and forward-thinking team.

Are you an experienced fundraiser with a passion for connecting alumni and friends to the right cause in creative and innovative ways? Are you interested in helping to grow and develop a team of hard-working student fundraisers? Do you enjoy communicating with a diverse community of people? Then we would love to talk to you.

As part of the Fundraising and Community Engagement team, you will help build and diversify a strong regular giving programme through delivering bespoke fundraising appeals and campaigns using a range of direct marketing channels. You will oversee the delivery of our bi-annual student telethon known as YuCall and Summer Direct Mail appeal and will explore and introduce new opportunities to diversify and develop our regular giving programme. You will play a key role in producing creative story-led copy to inspire our community to give and to thank those who already do.

We are looking for a team member who will bring an excellent understanding of regular giving, with a knowledge of data driven and donor centred fundraising. Experience in managing or fundraising for a regular giving programme is vital. You should have experience of delivering fundraising appeals using a range of online and offline channels alongside being able to confidently manage and support a large group of student fundraisers.

This is an exciting time to be joining the OPPA team. The University is embarking upon delivering its mission to become a University for Public Good and has just made a significant investment to increase philanthropy and alumni engagement over the next 10 years as we look to establish a more representative and inclusive community.

We are looking for people with:

  • Able to write clearly, concisely and persuasively to promote the importance of charitable giving
  • Enthusiasm for philanthropy and its benefits to students, academics, and wider community
  • Creative and innovative approach, with a willingness to contribute fresh ideas
  • Organised and flexible with strong prioritisation skills
  • Please see the attached job description for the full list of essential and desirable criteria; we ask that you cover all of these in your application.
