It is located in Toulouse, South West of France, in the main Campus of the Université Toulouse III-Paul Sabatier (https:// www. univ-tlse3.fr/), which offers a multidisciplinary education in the fields of science, health, engineering, and technology, developing one of the most important scientific research clusters in France. The CBI currently brings together in a brand new research building more than 400 scientists in 40 research teams with worldwide recognition, aimed to foster research leading to the elucidation of fundamental aspects of the structure and function of complex biological systems, and covering all scales from individual molecules to the whole organism and population.

Missions A 3-year PhD student position is available for highly motivated and talented candidates interested in molecular and cellular biology for a project to be executed at the Centre for Integrative Biology (CBI) in Toulouse, France, in the teams of Dr Arnaud Besson (CBI MCD UMR5077, Cell Cycle & Cancer team (https: // cbi-toulouse.fr/eng/equipe-besson), Email: arnaud.besson@univ- tlse3.fr). The project aims at studying the role of p27Kip1 in the regulation of autophagy, metabolism and cell growth and to evaluate the potential of targeting specific metabolic pathways in function of p27 status in the context of cancer. This project follows up on previous work from the team: Nowosad et al. Nat. Cell Biol. 2020 PMID 32807902, Nowosad et al. Cell Death Dis. 2021 PMID 33986251. The position is to start in December 2021 or January 2022. Activities The selected candidate will: -participate in the conception of the project -use and develop methodologies -perform experiments -analyze and present data -present results at seminars and conferences -participate in writing research articles -fulfill all requisites from the PhD program of the University of Toulouse The candidate will use a broad panel of approaches in cell and molecular biology (imaging, cytometry, tissue culture, cloning, transfection, CRISPR- Cas9, western blots, immunoprecipitation…) and genomics (RNA-Seq…). Skills Dedicated and highly motivated candidates (M/F) should hold a Master's degree or equivalent and have a strong background in cellular and molecular biology. Prior experience working in the fields of autophagy and/or metabolism would be an asset. The candidate must be rigorous, and have strong organizational and teamwork skills. The candidate must be able to communicate in English (written/oral), knowledge of French is not mandatory. Interested individuals should provide a cover letter detailing their previous scientific work experience, training and research interests, curriculum vitae and contact information of two referees.
