  • NeuroSmog combines four scientific teams in the fields of pollution

    assessment, child psychology, neuroimaging, and epidemiology with the common goal of determining the impact of ambient air pollution on the developing brain in school-age children. Using MRI scans and in-depth psychological testing of cases of ADHD and a control group selected from the general population, the NeuroSmog project endeavors to investigate the effects of air pollution on behavioral and neural changes in school-age children.

    The PhD student will have a unique opportunity to work with a group of

    scientists and practitioners from the clinical child psychology area to investigate the effects of air pollution on the developing brain. The team's work will be funded for by the NeuroSmog project, the amount is provided for it in the budget.

    The NeuroSmog project provides
  • research cooperation in an interdisciplinary group of specialists
  • opportunity to broaden the competencies necessary for professional practice as a clinical psychologist;
  • access to specialized databases, as well as participation in scientific conferences to present the results of studies access, software, conferences, and collaborative travel,
  • funds supporting participation in meetings, scientific exchanges, and other forms of doctoral training
  • access to a professional laboratory of research methods and diagnostic techniques in the field of child psychology

    Offer Requirements Skills/Qualifications The competition may be entered by a person who meets all of the following

    criteria jointly

  • Master degree in psychology
  • Being involved in the scientific activity (e.g. participating in conferences, scientific projects, publications)
  • Experience in cooperation with children with neurodevelopmental difficulties (e.g. conducting a psychological diagnosis, assistance in workshops)
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis software; Programming skills (RStudio, Python / Matlab, Presentation / Psychopy / ePrime) and statistical skills.
  • Experience in managing and analyzing data
  • English at a level enabling active participation in an interdisciplinary research team.
  • Required languages: English (good, min. B2), Polish (good; due to further cooperation with Polish psychologists- practitioners and surveyed children and youth from southern Poland)
  • Student finishing the last year of MA studies or graduate / MA student in the fields of psychology or first year student of doctoral school (UJ, psychology). Applications of students who are already PhD students will be considered if they are able, in parallel to their doctorate, to devote themselves to work in the neurosmog project.
