The Dresden High Magnetic Field Laboratory (HLD) focuses on modern materials
research in high magnetic fields.
The Department of Strongly Correlated Electron Systems is looking for a PhD
student (f/m/d) Magnetic properties of modern quantum materials. The
position will be available from 1 April 2023. The employment contract is
limited to three years.
Your tasks:
High-resolution measurements of the thermodynamic and spectroscopic
properties of novel quantum magnets
Development of advanced experimental measurement techniques for studies at
extreme sample conditions
Presentation of results at international conferences and publication in
peer-reviewed journals
Collaboration in national and international cooperation projects of the
HLD, for example in the cluster of excellence, ct.qmat
Supervision of Bachelor and Master students
Your profile:
Master´s or equivalent degree in Physics with background in quantum
magnetism
Good certified study performance
Experience in operation of cryostats and spectroscopic or thermodynamic
probes of condensed-matter materials
Hands-on experience in the development of new experimental setups
Strong engagement in original research, teamwork, and good communication
skills

The employment contract is limited to three years
