Brian M Davis was arguably the founder of modern Australian industrial design.

The Brian M Davis Industrial Design PhD Scholarship honours Brian's design legacy in order to ensure that his enormous contribution remains present in the minds of today's design experts, young designers, and those in the broader community.

This prestigious PhD scholarship program will support PhD candidates within the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture to enable them to realise their potential through design, see that design at Monash is a place for them and create future role models and pathways for the designers of the future.

The scholarship program's ambition is to create a cohort of design professionals with the knowledge and skills required to respond to the important challenges of our time through design.

The Project

Research proposals are sought that aim to develop new designs which provide a social or environmental benefit. These may include but are not limited to, zero emission mobility, healthcare and medical technology, and gender sensitive spatial and communication design research.
