Offer Description

Chemistry is facing a digital revolution which is going to profoundly modify the way chemists think and perform chemical transformations. Chemistry 4.0 will massively take advantage of integrated information technology systems, algorithms, and automated machines to reinvent the concepts of chemical synthesis.

The research program led by Professor François-Xavier Felpin and Dr. Daniel Cortés-Borda at Nantes University within the CEISAM Laboratory, will be carried out in close collaboration with the team of Professors Laurent Falk and Jean-Marc Commenge of the University of Lorraine (LRGP Laboratory, Nancy). The objective of this research program is to develop model-based experimental designs allowing the optimization of chemical reactions, whatever the nature and the dimensioning of the reactor.

More specifically, the Nantes University team will develop a synthesis platform operating autonomously in continuous flow for the acquisition of high-rate experimental data for process optimization. This work will require the extensive use of digital technologies and decision support algorithms.

The candidate (M/F) will join a multidisciplinary and international team hosted at the CEISAM research institute, to work on the development of autonomous flow reactors for chemical synthesis. The project aims at 1/ developing an autonomous flow platform, 2/ setting up analytical tools for on- line monitoring (HPLC, NMR...), 3/ optimizing original chemical reactions and collecting experimental data. The candidate will also interact with other members of the team specialized in chemical synthesis (CEISAM) but also with the LRGP laboratory team specialized in chemical engineering.
